Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana(PMAY)
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PM Awas Yojana) is a government scheme which was launched in June 2015 with the aim of providing affordable houses. It aims to provide more than 2 crore affordable houses with water connections, toilet facilities and 24-hour power supply to eligible families/beneficiaries. In advance, pm awas yojana became referred to as indira awas yojana (iay), which become started out within the yr 1985, this scheme become changed to pradhan mantri awas yojana in the yr 2015,
The government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015 It was announced during a decentralized program in India, under which the government promised to provide housing to every citizen in India. We know this ambitious scheme as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana or PMAY.

Is Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana continuing or not?
Yes, the Awas Yojana is continuing The Central Government has extended the validity of both the components of the PMAY programme.
The Union Cabinet has extended the validity of PMAY-Gramin program till March 31, 2024 to achieve the target of construction of 2.95 crore houses. The earlier deadline for PMAY-G was March 31, 2021.
Similarly, the Union Cabinet in August 2022 approved the extension of the PMAY-Urban scheme till December 2024, against the earlier deadline of March 2022.
1.Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY )Urban
A total of 122.69 lakh houses have been approved under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) till March 2022. Subsequently, the scheme has been extended till 31 December 2024 to complete the sanctioned houses by 31 March 2022. However, during this extended period, no additional houses will be sanctioned under the scheme. Within the total limit of 122.69 lakh houses, States/UTs are permitted to reduce the sanctioned non-starter (not yet started) houses and replace them with new houses. Kaushal Kishore, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha in December 2022, had said that the time frame for BLC houses of the scheme would generally be 12 to 18 months and in case of AHP/ISSR vertical of the scheme, 24 to 36 months. It takes months.
2.Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY )Gramin
Under PMAY-G, a target of 2.95 crore houses has been set by 2024. So far, 1.90 crore houses have been built across India under the PMAY-G scheme.
According to data provided by the Housing Ministry in 2019, it takes an average of 114 days to build a house under the scheme. So far, 1.26 crore houses have been built across India under the PMAY-G scheme. Under PMAY-G, a beneficiary is given 100% grant to construct a permanent house up to Rs 1.20 lakh in plain areas and Rs 1.30 lakh in hilly states, north-eastern states, difficult areas, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh etc. The minimum size of houses to be built under PMAY-G scheme has been fixed at 25 square meters.
PMAY-G beneficiaries are provided support for unskilled labor wages under MGNREGS (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme) and further assistance of Rs 12,000 for the construction of toilets under Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G). In December 2021, the Cabinet had approved the extension of PMAY-Gramin scheme till March 2024.
